KK47000 SAFARI CHAIR IN ASH AND HARNESS LEATHER
This refurbished Safari Chair designed by Kaare Klint in 1933 is in solid ash with the seat and back rest in vegetable tanned harness leather of the best quality. The seat has a layer of linen canvas to create extra support.
All cutting, stitching and treatment is done by hand, and the edges have been polished and burnished with wax.
Ash – lye and soap
Leather – conditioner
The original featured glueless joints, tool-free assembly, and an intelligent construction that caused the joints to tighten when the chair was occupied, enhancing strength and stability.
Klint focused on simplifying, clarifying and refining the lounge chair’s composition, exhibiting his final Safari Chair design in 1933 at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers’ Guild Exhibition. (Source: Carl Hansen & Søn)
